Flag Lowering for Sajida Grande

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Sept. 15 in memory of UNO retiree Sajida Grande, who recently passed away. The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Sajida’s loved ones during this time.

About Sajida

Sajida began her career at UNO on March 1, 1982, and retired as an ESL Specialist in International Programs on Sept. 1, 2011. Her family notes that she was among the first teachers to come to UNO from Kabul, Afghanistan, through the Center for Afghanistan and Regional Studies.

She is survived by her son, Fred; grandchildren, Faith, Caylee, and Simone; and sisters, Maryam and Rona. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frishta; and sister, Sabera.

A private ceremony was held for Sajida in San Diego, California.
