The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Tuesday, May 27, in memory of emeritus retiree Ernest (E.J.) Kemnitz, Ph.D., who recently passed away. The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with E.J.'s loved ones during this time.
About E.J.
E.J. was an Emeritus Professor in Chemistry. He began his career at UNO on Sept. 1, 1962, and retired on Sept. 1, 2004. He worked in temporary capacities until Aug. 1, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. Sr. and Hilda Kemnitz; his sisters Ethel Thompson and Rosie Kemnitz; wife, Liselotte and their son Hanno. He is survived by sons, Detlef (Diane) and Dirk (Sharon) Kemnitz; grandchildren: Lindsay (Derek) Parks, Nathan (Brittany), Ryan (Christine), Alec (Emily), Kirk (Brynn), and Mark (Jordan) Kemnitz. Great grandchildren, Jackson, Noah, Joshua, and Grace Parks; Elise, Adam, and Jonah Kemnitz; Charlotte Kemnitz; Freya and Klaus Kemnitz, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Memorial Service
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, at 1 P.M. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska.
