Drew Leisy Sworn in as UNO Student Regent and Student Body President

Drew Leisy, a business administration major from Bridgeport, Nebraska, is sworn in as the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s new student body president and student regent.

Drew Leisy, a business administration major from Bridgeport, Nebraska, is sworn in as the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s new student body president and student regent on Monday, May 5. Leisy, who is concentrating in supply chain and logistics as well as management and leadership, will serve as the top representative of the student body during the 2025–26 academic year.

️➡️ What’s new: Drew Leisy, from Bridgeport, Nebraska, majoring in business administration with concentrations in supply chain and logistics as well as management and leadership, is officially UNO’s new student body president and student regent, taking the reigns as the top representative of the student body. Leisy was sworn in on Monday, May 5 alongside his running mates.


💡 Why it matters: The student body president serves as a voting student regent on the University of Nebraska (NU) System’s Board of Regents, giving UNO’s nearly 15,000 students a direct voice in university governance.


⚡️ What’s next:

  • Team effort: Vice President Rai will assist Leisy in managing student government operations and will coordinate student representation on university-wide committees and the Student Senate. Gomez, as chief of staff, will oversee day-to-day SGA activities and support the executive team in implementing student government projects.

  • Building the administration: In the coming weeks, the new leaders will appoint students to remaining SGA roles to complete their administration. Their term in office will span the upcoming academic year, through spring 2026.
