At their February meeting, the University of Nebraska (NU) System Board of Regents presented Sophia Potter, project manager for the Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), with a Kudos Award for her outstanding leadership and commitment to supporting research and creative activity at UNO.

Her supervisor, Rica McLaren, Assistant Director of Finance and Administration in ORCA, said that “Sophia exemplifies the Maverick Spirit with her can-do attitude and dedication to overcoming challenges. Her willingness to take on multiple demanding assignments with enthusiasm and skill, reflect her passion for elevating UNO's research and creative activity initiatives.”

Sophia plays a vital role in advancing UNO's mission of discovery by fostering research and creative endeavors.

When asked to facilitate a National Science Foundation workshop on short notice, Sophia managed all aspects of the event: reserving space, organizing catering, creating promotional materials, and conducting outreach, quickly and with precision. She seamlessly manages such tasks showcasing her high-quality work,” said McLaren.

Sophia’s inclusive approach to planning and her focus on creating a welcoming environment for all participants further highlight her commitment to advancing innovation and collaboration at UNO.

“She effectively brings people together and creates opportunities for meaningful interactions, advancing UNO's goals for connection and collaboration,” McLaren continued.

In presenting the Board of Regents KUDOS award to Potter, UNO Student Body President/Regent Ishani Adidam thanked Sophia for her dedication to UNO.

Congratulations, Sophia!
