The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has been recognized as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting, an honor awarded to 471 colleges across the nation, UNO’s Office of Engagement announced.

For years, UNO has institutionalized civic engagement through campus-wide initiatives that connect academic coursework to community action. By promoting voter education, civil dialogue, and advocacy, the university ensures students develop skills essential for active participation in democracy.

"When a community actively participates in the voting process, it strengthens the bonds that tie us together," Assistant Director of UNO's Office of Engagement Toni Monette said. "At UNO, we understand that voter engagement is essential to fostering connection and a shared sense of responsibility within our communities."

From June to November 2024, UNO’s Volunteer and Civic Engagement Programs unit spearheaded over 20 civic-focused events. These included voter registration drives, civil dialogues, and presentations on community organizing and voter education, providing students with tools to become informed citizens. Supported by the Ask Every Student Initiative as part of the All In Campus Democracy Challenge, the university reached over 1,600 students through grant-funded programming.

Innovative digital platforms such as TurboVote and Outreach Circle were also instrumental in UNO's efforts, engaging over 200 students with voting information and civic resources. These platforms complemented in-person initiatives, ensuring accessibility for students of all backgrounds and schedules.

In September 2024, ALL IN awarded UNO a 2024 Highly Established Action Plan Seal for its nonpartisan democratic engagement plan.
