UNO Names Howard Williams Employee of the Month, May 2023

Williams was recognized by his colleagues for his proactive and engaged approach to ensuring the everyday events, gatherings, and meetings at the Milo Bail Student Center go smoothly.

Howard Williams, custodial supervisor in the Milo Bail Student Center, was recently recognized as UNO’s May 2023 Employee of the Month.

Howard Williams, custodial supervisor in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Milo Bail Student Center, has been named UNO Employee of the Month for May 2023.

He was nominated by his colleagues for his reputation as a go-to contact to make the many events, gatherings, and meetings that go on in the Milo Bail Student Center each day run smoothly.

“Howard knows the building inside and out. He has a great handle of the schedule of events and how to make the schedule work efficiently and effectively,” one nominator said. “He always knows when people are coming and going, and we know we can reach out to him for assistance because he will have a handle on what’s going on.”

Williams’ reputation for reliability is also built on his proactive engagement with those around him including employees, student workers, and visitors to the student center.

“Quick with a friendly hello and a smile, he makes sure everyone feels welcome,” His nominator added. “I can tell that he is well-liked by everyone! When our office has an event, Howard will take the initiative to reach out.”

Event logistics can quickly overwhelm with last-minute items that need attention, rooms that need to be re-arranged, or technology challenges that suddenly arise without warning. But the Milo Bail Student Center staff know that Williams “is always quick to respond and is never fazed. He is a great help in making sure that the building runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.”

For being named as Employee of the Month, Williams will receive a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler provided by the UNO Bookstore, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.
