UNO Names Chloe Smith Employee of the Month

Chloe Smith, Assistant Director of Residence Life & Conduct, has been named UNO’s employee of the month for September 2021.

Smith was surprised by the UNO Celebration Committee on Wednesday, Sept. 22, to celebrate the honor.

In her nomination, Smith’s willingness to go above and beyond when it comes to helping students was highlighted.

“She is the type of person to personally walk a student to the bookstore to assist with finding books because they are a first-year college student and are nervous,” Her nominator said. “Chloe is in her element when she is working with others and helping others.”

Her responsibilities include managing the student conduct process; supporting residence life training and education initiatives; and serving as a member of UNO’s Behavioral Review Team. She communicates daily with everyone — from students to staff and faculty to parents — and is willing to step in to help anyone in need.

“All departments have that one person that just knows everything about anything. That person for us is Chloe,” her nominator said. “Chloe is the go-to person, and when she does not know something, she is the one willing to do her research and learn.”

Recently, Smith also took a role in the Office of Health Security where she ensures that anyone needing to be quarantined or isolated within campus housing would get it.

“Chloe is a wearer of many hats. Chloe will step into roles where she is needed or asked to be in and is one of the most selfless and kind people I have ever worked with,” her nominator said.

For being awarded Employee of the Month, Smith will receive a certificate, hot/cold tumbler, monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.
