Air+Care

When studying abroad, there are many upfront costs that can be a challenge to meet. Air+Care is a service offered by UNO Education Abroad to reduce upfront costs for students.

Air+Care is an optional service for UNO students studying abroad or away. Those taking advantage of this option will have their flights and international health insurance billed through MavLINK instead of paying those costs directly to the airlines (or similar).

Air+Care students will meet with an advisor in UNO Education Abroad who will help them book their flight through the university travel agency. The cost of the flight and the international health insurance plan will then be added to the students MavLINK bill for the semester they participate. This benefits the student because they have additional support in arranging their flights, and the payment for flights and insurance is delayed until their financial aid has been disbursed. It also removes their need to enroll in the insurance plan in advance and pay the cost separately.

The cost of the flight + the cost of UNO's required insurance plan + $50 added to the applicable Education Abroad Admin Cost.

Students will need to book a flight and purchase the insurance regardless, but Air+Care allows them to have additional support making those arrangements and delaying payment until their semester bill is due and aid is disbursed. Air+Care is completely optional and students are welcome to decide if they'd like to use this service.

After committing to your program in the MavsAbroad Portal, you will see an Air+Care form. Complete the form by the deadline to opt in to Air+Care. You will be asked to confirm you understand the agreement, and that once booked your flight and insurance charges will remain on your student account until paid. After opting in, you will meet with an advisor from UNO Education Abroad to book your flights and your flight and insurance bill will later appear in MavLINK.

Students participating in exchanges and affiliate provider programs are the most likely to benefit from the Air+Care option. Nearly all Global Courses at UNO already include the cost of the flight and the insurance in the total amount billed in MavLINK. The optional Air+Care form will only appear in your MavsAbroad Portal account if you are on a program that doesn't already include these expenses.
