During our virtual walk, we will see the Church of Salute, and the Gesuati temple dedicated to St Mary of the Rosary and view the Palladian church of Redentore across the canal on the island of Giudecca. We will pass by the oldest gondola yard still active after 400 years as well as the typical “bacaros” of Venice with their well-known “cichetti”.

Annual Gildersleeve Lecture: Islam and Politics in Afghanistan after the Taliban by Nazif Shahrani, Indiana University | Noon - 1:30 P.M.

Charlie Gildersleeve was one of the founding faculty members of the International Studies Major at UNO. He was always available to help students with study-abroad independent studies courses. His guest lecture each semester in the International Studies intro course was a highlight for all students. He took it upon himself to make international students feel at home in class and on campus with his inimitable warmth. In memory of his contributions to International Studies Majors and to international students at UNO, UNO International Programs presents the Charles Gildersleeve "Know-Your-World" Lecture each year during International Education Week.
