For Huja Sange, leadership is about more than holding a title. It is about using her skills to open doors for others and creating opportunities where they are most needed.
As a senior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) majoring in Business Administration with concentrations in Business Analytics and Marketing, Sange has invested her time and talents in both campus and community service. She has volunteered with Afrofest, the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, and the African Student Association, building connections that celebrate and strengthen community ties.
Her professional contributions are equally notable. She has served on the Empowerment Network Solutions Summit Professional Development Committee, participated in the Pitch Black Business Pitch Finale, supported the Suit Up! initiative, and worked with the Midwest African Chamber to connect entrepreneurs to valuable resources. Each experience has reinforced her belief in the power of collaboration and access to opportunity.
“Given my experience in the nonprofit world, aimed towards empowering local entrepreneurs and youth, I have found a strong passion and joy for helping and watching others achieve their dreams, big or small,” Huja said. “I aspire to implement solutions that will address the challenges that occur in achieving their goals.”
Sange plans to combine her business expertise with data analytics to identify and expand economic development opportunities for small business owners. Her dedication to service and her vision for growth reflect the values celebrated by the Marian Ivers Community Service Leadership Award.
