With an area of concentration in Political Science you will study the origin, development, and operation of political systems and public policy.

You will be exposed to the issues of political organization, action, policy, and governance. Political Science is a versatile area and helps develop skills and understanding useful in a variety of settings.

Concentration Requirements (Blocks 1 & 2)* 30 hours
PSCI 1100 Introduction to American National Government 3 hours
PSCI 2000 Introduction to Political Inquiry and Writing 3 hours
PSCI 2210 Introduction to International Relations 3 hours
PSCI 2310 Introduction to Political Thought 3 hours
PSCI 2500 Introduction to Comparative Politics 3 hours
PSCI 4950 Senior Assessment in Political Science 0 hours
Additional 15 hours from the Department of Political Science (PSCI), minimum 12 hours upper level. 15 hours

* Must include at least 12 hours of upper level credit completed at UNO

A minimum of 120 hours are required for the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies degree.

Degree Requirements

Up to 9 hours in related coursework outside of the Political Science Department may count toward degree requirements with approval.


Additional Information:

  • PSCI 1100, 2210, 2310 and 2500 are offered online at least once per year. Additional courses are offered online regularly.
  • Students interested in graduate studies should contact the graduate advisor in the Political Science department to make sure necessary classes are taken to enter graduate programs.
