MOVCENTR E-NEWSLETTER
UNO Receives $6 Million NIH Award to Advance Human Movement Variability Research
- The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has received a $6 million award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to continue its groundbreaking work at the Center for Research in Human Movement Variability (MOVCENTR).
- This new phase of funding, awarded through the NIH’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences, supports UNO’s continued leadership in biomechanics and biomedical research.
- Led by Nikolaos “Nick” Stergiou, Ph.D., assistant dean and director of MOVCENTR, the center’s researchers aim to deepen understanding of neuromuscular adaptability and develop innovative, mechanism-based therapies that restore optimal movement in individuals with disorders affecting coordination and balance.

Seminar Series
The Seminar Series, which is supported by our MOVCENTR and the Department of Biomechanics, promotes high-quality research presentations every Friday at 10:00 am during the academic year. The focus of the seminar series is to call for experts related to academia and research in the areas related to biomechanics, variability, motor disorders, physical therapy, and related studies. If you are interested in presenting, please contact Dr. Madhur Mangalam at mmangalam@unomaha.edu. There will be no Seminar Series on March 20th (Spring Break) or March 27th (Research and Creative Activity Fair)!
Coming up, we are very excited to host:
- Dr. Dan Ferris, University of Florida, Apr. 8th
- Dr. Scott Cooper, University of Southern California, Apr. 15th
- Dr. Gerald Loeb, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Apr. 24th
- UNO Undergraduate Biomechanics Capstone Presentations, May 1st
