Criss Library Summer Research Grants

The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library is pleased to announce the Library Summer Research Grants to support new and continuing research projects of University of Nebraska Omaha students at the library. The grants will support in-depth, focused research for new or continuing projects engaging students with library services and resources. One award of $2,000 will be awarded for one undergraduate student project and one award of $3,000 will be awarded for one graduate student project. Applicants are encouraged to consult the library's website for detailed descriptions of collections and services. Applicants are welcome to arrange a preliminary consultation about their research project with an appropriate librarian before applying for a research grant.
All student winners will be required to:
- Present their findings or work in progress at a library-sponsored event
- Submit a progress report by September 1, 2016, which will also be submitted to the DigitalCommons@UNO digital repository (creators retain copyright to their works)
- Attend a recognition reception.
Example research projects may include:
- Research using library resources and writing with the intention of turning a paper for a class into a thesis, journal article, or similar.
- Utilizing unique and specialized material from Archives & Special Collections to inspire art work.
- Utilizing the services and equipment from the Creative Production Lab to create a media-rich project.
- Using library services and resources to create an online exhibit.
- Beginning or completing a digital humanities project using library services and resources.
