An update for the UNO Community, from Dan Shipp, Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs:
Dear UNO Community,
The purpose of this email is to provide you all with an update regarding our work supporting students impacted by this Wednesday’s fire at Scott Village. We want to make sure you have updated and accurate information, as well as a list of student services to share with those interested. When we have updates, we will share the information on Facebook.
Update:
-- Within 24 hours, all 42 students from Building G have permanent housing solutions in place. Many have moved into a new location within University housing and some are with their families.
-- On Thursday, housing staff was able to provide limited access to residents of the first and second floors of Building G, so they could retrieve essential belongings from their rooms. Because of the extensive damage to the roof, residents on the third floor will not be able to recover their items.
-- Approximately 75 students and family members attended a student town hall gathering in Scott Café last night. Many UNO senior officials, counselors, housing staff and IT staff were on hand to meet with students and parents.
-- People who want to give monetary donations to help our displaced students can donate online through the NU Foundation: https://nufoundation.org/uno.
-- The University Bookstore has already contributed over $8K worth of books, supplies, and clothing to support the students.
-- MavCard Services added $100 onto each student’s card from Building G for incidental expenses. For example, some area restaurants will accept the MavCard for payment.
Student Services:

-- Impacted students continue to be encouraged to stop by the Scott Village Clubhouse with questions/concerns or call (402) 778-6211.
