Who We Are

Mission

Provide quality free and confidential legal advice, representation, counseling, education, advocacy, research, and referrals for all students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. We constantly strive to educate students on their legal rights and tirelessly advocate for their interests.

Vision

The vision of Student Legal Services Office (SLS) is for equal access to justice through education, information, and representation for all University of Nebraska at Omaha Students.

Jacob L. Stodola, J.D.

Director of Student Legal Services

Jacob Stodola has been a licensed attorney for over a decade and is admitted to practice law in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, federal courts, and tribal courts. A graduate of Creighton University School of Law, Jacob’s background includes work with the Department of Homeland Security, Legal Aid of Nebraska, and private practice. He has litigated over 3,000 cases, including landmark cases, and now is the leader of Student Legal Services at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Maggie Frei, J.D.

Associate Attorney

Maggie Frei is an Associate Attorney with Student Legal Services. She is licensed to practice in Nebraska, Iowa, and New York. Before joining the University, she worked in civil litigation defense with a focus on insurance matters, gaining substantial experience in both state and federal courts. A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Maggie brings a non-traditional background in entertainment that helps her break down complex legal issues, empower students to understand their rights, and guide them toward practical, manageable solutions. She is committed to fostering a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and accessing the support they need.

Shanelle Clark

Paralegal

Shanelle Clark is a certified paralegal experienced in legal support and nonprofit management. A graduate of Bellevue University, she holds a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Sciences and a Master’s in Human Services with a Nonprofit Management emphasis. Shanelle is a Commissioned Notary Public in Nebraska and a committed professional who integrates expertise in the delivery of quality legal and administrative services.
