As the holiday season approaches, many UNO departments and student organizations put their giving foot forward and organize a drive to benefit the Omaha community.
If your department or student organization is hosting a drive this holiday season, let us know! Submit your information through the Start Your Project form and mention the "Holiday Drives" article so we can add you to the list!
Coffee Drive to Benefit Stephen Center | Nov. 25 - Dec. 18
The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) is collecting cans and bags of coffee to donate to the Pettigrew Emergency Shelter at the Stephen Center. Donations can be brought to the DCS office at CPACS 207.
Stephen Center partners with the community, families, and individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction, and poverty. DCS is collecting coffee because it is a much needed item, but it often not something people think to donate.
Better World Book Drive | Nov. 25 - Dec. 20
The Office of Spirit and Tradition, in conjunction with the help from the UNO Bookstore, will once again collect used, damaged, or non-sale textbooks for the Books for Africa project.
Books can be dropped off outside the UNO Bookstore or in Milo Bail 113. Otherwise, offices or faculty/staff can request a pick up.
Baxter Arena Holiday Blood Drive | Monday, Dec. 23
Baxter Arena is hosting a holiday blood drive Monday, Dec. 23 from 6 A.M. - 6 P.M. Students are on winter break and many people have the week off work, but patients don’t get to take time from lifesaving treatments. Make the holidays a bit brighter - #giveblood at the @RedCrossBloodMW holiday blood drive Dec. 23. Entertainment and childcare are also provided to donors.
Maverick Food Pantry: Culture of Caring Campaign | Through Dec. 31
Food insecurity is becoming more evident on college campuses, and UNO is no exception. UNO’s Maverick Food Pantry aims to contribute to UNO’s culture of caring by providing resources to those in immediate need and connecting them with additional resources in the greater Omaha area for long-term support.
Consider giving to the 'Culture of Caring Campaign.' Just $5 can help buy important food items and supplies and just $15 can provide one bag of food for a Maverick in need. Please consider providing a gift to the Maverick Food Pantry today.
