On Sunday, the former Maverick added an Olympic gold medal to his hockey accomplishments.
Guentzel and Team USA earned a 2-1 overtime win over longtime nemesis Canada in Sunday's gold-medal game. The victory came 46 years to the day when the United States upset the Soviet Union en route to winning the 1980 gold medal.
Jack Hughes scored the decisive goal Sunday less than three minutes into the 3-on-3 overtime.
Guentzel scored one goal in six games as the United States went undefeated in Italy.
Prior to the Olympics, Guentzel made his international debut by playing for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off last year. He scored three goals in four games in that tournament.
Guentzel will return to NHL play for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He's second on the Lightning in goal and points this season.
Also of note, David Quinn, a member of Mike Kemp's first-ever Omaha Hockey staff, served as an assistant for Team USA in Milan.
