UNOTheatre Students Collab with Durham Museum for Halloween

This year's spooky season at Omaha's Durham Museum was made possible with help from UNO students.

The Durham Museum is a staple in Omaha.

Housed in the historic Union Station with its Art Deco décor, white limestone façade, and the interior waiting area that could come from a Raymond Chandler novel, it’s a must-visit for lovers of history and trains.

Yet, as spooky season is here, something peculiar and unsettling has conjured itself inside Durham’s historical Pullman cars. It was all thanks to UNOTheatre and a Period Styles class, who installed Halloween decorations.

For the next couple of weeks, the museum’s visitors can tour the cars on exhibit decorated with skeletons, cobwebs, and ghoulish creatures. Everyday scenes of people taking the train are displayed in the cars, except with a macabre twist. And most importantly for the class, everything is historically accurate, with decorations coming together with careful research that fits the cars’ historical periods and maintains the museum’s family-friendly mission.
