The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on July 27 in memory of Debora "Deb" Wisneski, Ph.D., who recently passed away. The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Deb’s loved ones during this time.
About Deb
Deb started her career at UNO on Aug. 13, 2012. She was a professor in Teacher Education and the John T. Langan Community Chair of Early Childhood Education, in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS).
She is survived by her parents, Robert and Gloria Basler; her husband Aron; her children Henry, William, and Ryleigh; and her sisters Sharon Basler and Amy Basler Schwent.
Dr. Wisneski—"Deb" to so many of us—was the very heart and soul of our college. She embodied the best of what an educator and a friend could be, greeting everyone with a smile and an unwavering belief that together "we've got this." Through her extraordinary leadership in Early Childhood Education, she inspired generations of teachers who will help countless children believe in themselves and to succeed in life. For many of us, Deb was more than a colleague or a friend—she was a model of kindness, courage, and grace, both at work and in life.
