Leanna Hyatt, academic advisor for math, physics, and chemistry, was recently named the “Advisor of the Month” by the Academic Advising Council (AAC) for the month of January.
The award was presented to Hyatt at the January Academic Advising Council meeting.
Hyatt’s nominators said,
“Leanna is wonderful to work with. She's an amazing student advocate and a brilliant advisor!"
"Leanna goes above and beyond for her students. As she transitioned to a new unit, she continues to learn and help those around her. She always brings a positive attitude to every situation. She is prompt and always wants the best for her students. She continues to educate and ask questions to be the best advisor.”
“Leanna is an incredible team player and has been a wonderful asset to the CAS advising team. While training for her new advising position in CAS over the summer, she continued to assist the HCRC with bringing in new pre-health students during group enrollment days. Math, Chem, and Physics are all complicated majors with so much to learn, so I have to imagine that was tough. However, Leanna took it all in stride, never complaining, and really just dug in to learn everything there was to learn. Since taking those majors on her own, she has done so wonderfully in working with those departments and serving that population of students, and we are so tickled to have her!”
For being selected as the AAC Advisor of the Month, she received a certificate and gift card.
Nominate an Academic Advisor for the "Advisor of the Month Award"
If you know one of your colleagues has gone above and beyond in their exceptional service to students, their colleagues and/or the university, nominate them for the Advisor of the Month Award! Each month, one advisor will be selected at random from the nominations to receive the award at the Academic Advising Council meeting. All nominees will be recognized by AAC for their work.
Nominees must be at least .5 FTE whose primary role is academic advising. Once selected, advisors would not be eligible to receive the award again for one calendar year, although they can still be nominated in recognition of their work.
To nominate an academic advisor, complete the nomination form on the AAC website.
