The following message was sent to University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) students, faculty, and staff:
Earlier today, UNO was made aware of a threat of a possible explosive device in Criss Library.
The Library was evacuated out of an abundance of caution while the University of Nebraska Police and Public Safety Department (UNPPSD) and the Omaha Police Department (OPD) searched the building.
The building was deemed safe at approximately 1:15 P.M.
Normal operations at Criss Library will resume today at 3 P.M.
Schools and businesses across the country received similar threats today.
I want to express my thanks to students, faculty, and staff for their cooperation and first responders for their quick response.
Thank you,
Jerry Baggett
Deputy Chief of Police
University of Nebraska Police and Public Safety Department
