Appealing the Maximum Credit Limit

The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) establishes the following policy for review of maximum credit limit per semester.

17 semester hours is the maximum credit limit for Division of Continuing Studies students. For student that wish to go above this limit the following policy applies:

Students with a 3.0 or higher NU system cumulative grade point average

  • DCS academic advisors have the authority on decisions. An academic advisor can ask for consult through the Director or Assistant Director for Advising of the Division of Continuing Studies if they feel the decision needs to be made at that level.

Students with lower than a 3.0 NU system cumulative grade point average

  • Discussion with an academic advisor about need to take more than the maximum credit limit.
  • Send an email to Katie Sup Rezac (ksup@unomaha.edu). Please include the following information:

Subject: Maximum Credit Limit Appeal

  • First and Last Name
  • NU ID
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Cumulative UNO GPA (NU system GPA)
  • Last advisor you saw
  • Please explain why you need a credit limit adjustment, how many hours total you would like to take and how you are going to manage a heavier course load.
