An area of concentration in Applied Leadership will prepare you with foundational knowledge and transferrable skills for success in both the modern workplace and contemporary life.

This concentration provides theoretical understanding of leadership and organizations paired with courses that build a “toolbox” of practical and applied skills and competencies customizable to meet the needs and demands of the world in which you live and work.

Applied Leadership Concentration Requirements 30 hours
All of the following: 15 hours
PA 3900 Introduction to Integrated Leadership 3 hours
PHIL 3070 Leadership Ethics in Practice 3 hours
CMST 2410 Small Group Communication and Leadership 3 hours
PA 4530 Strategic Planning 3 hours
Substitute Leadership Context Elective 3 hours
Additional 15 hours of coursework in Leadership Context - coursework that builds on and further develops leadership knowledge and skills 15 hours
The 15 hours of credit may come from coursework to provide a breadth of knowledge or allow a learner to build a deep understanding of leadership in one area of focus. Recommended coursework can come from advisor approved courses focusing on the 5 C’s of Leadership: Content, Character, Communication, Connection, and Context or courses focusing on in-demand workplace skills and competencies: Analytical Reasoning, Applied Communication, Global/Intercultural Fluency, Innovation & Creative Thinking, Sales & Service Orientation, Teamwork & Collaboration, or Career Management.
Undergraduate minor or certificate coursework may be applied with approval.

* Must include at least 12 hours of upper level credit completed at UNO

A minimum of 120 hours are required for the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies degree.
