What do you love about UNO?
Every day that I step foot on campus I am reminded of the tremendous opportunities that students and staff have for learning, developing critical thinking and other life-enriching skills. I like seeing the diversity of the UNO student population that includes Omaha students, Nebraska students and international students. I particularly appreciate and identify with the non-traditional students who value education so much that they are willing to work extra hard to balance jobs and challenging family schedules with school.
If you could go back to college, what would you do differently?
I would approach ALL of my classes with the self-confidence that I would do well and learn something new, even the “have to take” classes. I was always fearful of math and didn’t think I could learn it and it showed in my performance. Now I do lots of complicated math, it isn’t labeled “algebra”, “geometry” or “calculus” but I know I am using those skills and I really like it. If only I would have believed that I capable of learning those concepts when I was taking those kinds of classes!
