I'm back, now what?
How do I get my money?
So, you've been promised funding from UNO, you took your trip, you saved your receipts, and you're home. Now what happens? How do I get the amount that has been promised to me?
It's pretty simple. Once you get back from your trip, turn in your summary and all those receipts you saved. We'll take care of the rest.
NOTE: If you get funding for an amount that exceeds your total travel expenses, you will not get cash. You only get reimbursement for up to the amount of your total funding or the amount of your receipts, whichever is less.
EXAMPLE: You receive $1,200 of funding from various sources. Your total expenses paid out of pocket are $1,000. You will only be reimbursed for $1,000.
Your summary
The Arts and Sciences Dean and Graduate Studies and Research require a summary of your trip as part of your funding. Your summary must be submitted within 30 days after the end of the conference. Failure to do so within this timeframe may result in serious harm; or you will just lose your funding. Sometimes it's hard to tell. But you will MOST DEFINITELY lose your funding if you miss that 30 day deadline submission.
You can use the same summary for both Arts and Sciences Dean's office and the Graduate Studies office. The CAS Dean's office is ridiculously picky about the summary content. See below for an acceptable summary example.

Your receipts
If you are getting money from any UNO source, you'll have to provide proof - in the form of your diligently saved receipts - that you actually paid for things. Give us those receipts and we'll do the rest.
The UNO check-writers are VERY particular about itemized receipts and they will refuse to pay for any receipt that does not show proper itemization. Below are the most commonly submitted receipts and examples of each. Your receipts may look different and/or you may have other types of receipts; the point is that receipts should be itemized (when applicable) to include dates, a zero balance, and a method of payment.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be reimbursed only up to the amount that has been promised by UNO; but collect and turn in all of your receipts, just so we can cover all bases.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO KEEP MEAL RECEIPTS. Meals are paid on a per diem basis; don't worry if you don't understand what that means, we'll figure it out for you.
Commonly submitted receipts
- Conference registration
- Airfare
- Lodging
- Ground transportation (Uber/taxi/shuttle/train, etc.)
Where do I send all of this?
You can either bring your receipts in to the Psychology travel assistant, or send them in via email to mmcdonald@unomaha.edu.
