UNO Shuttle Service
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) offers an inter-campus shuttle system that allows riders to travel quickly and efficiently between Dodge Campus and Scott Campus, eliminating the need to drive and search for parking. Visit the Shuttle Services page for more information on UNO shuttle routes and the UNO Shuttle Tracker App.
Bicycling on Campus
UNO promotes bicycling as a beneficial, inexpensive, and sustainable mode of transportation between UNO campuses.
Find more information about:
Parking Your Bicycle
UNO provides bicycle racks at several convenient locations throughout both campuses. Bicycle rack locations can be found on the Campus Bicycle Rack Map, located on the Campus Maps page.
Bicycles must be parked in designated areas and be chained/padlocked to a bicycle rack.
Improperly parked bikes can block walkways and handrails, creating significant risks for individuals using wheelchairs, canes, walkers, or those with mobility or visual impairments. To ensure safety for everyone, please avoid parking your bike in areas such as stairways, ramps, doorways, and near automatic door buttons.
Back to Bicycling on CampusFixit Stations
Riders can utilize multiple Fixit stations across both campuses, offering free air pumps and basic tools for riders to make adjustments. These stations are free to use and open to the public.

Nebraska Bicycle Laws
The following provides an overview of some important bicycle regulations in Nebraska. This overview is not comprehensive. For more details, refer to Chapter 60 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes. Bicycle regulations are primarily outlined in §60-6,314 through 60-6,319. Local authorities may have additional regulations within their own jurisdictions.
Bicyclists are expected to adhere to the same traffic laws as drivers of motor vehicles. When riding on a sidewalk or crossing a roadway or shoulder in a crosswalk, a bicyclist must follow pedestrian rules but must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians.
Required Bicycle Equipment
- Brakes capable of stopping the bicycle within 25 feet when traveling at 10 mph under ideal conditions.
- A red reflector must be mounted on the rear of the bicycle for nighttime visibility.
- A light must be mounted on the front of the bicycle for nighttime visibility.
- Side reflectors should be attached to the bicycle wheels for nighttime visibility.
- Reflectors must be present on the pedals (or shoes) for nighttime visibility.
Bicycle Safety Tips
Helmets
While Nebraska does not have state laws mandating helmet use, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) strongly encourages all bicyclists to wear a helmet that meets Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards at all times.
Never Ride Against Traffic
Always ride in the same direction as the flow of traffic. Riding against traffic can make it difficult for drivers to anticipate your movements, increasing the risk of collisions.
Be Predictable
Maintain a consistent and predictable riding pattern. Avoid sudden maneuvers and signal your intentions clearly. This helps drivers and other road users understand what to expect from you, reducing the likelihood of accidents.
See and Be Seen Easily
Ensure that you are visible to others, especially in low-light conditions or inclement weather. Wear bright or reflective clothing and use front and rear lights on your bicycle. Being highly visible helps others notice you and react accordingly.
Use Paved Shoulders
Whenever possible, ride on paved shoulders or designated bike lanes. These areas are specifically designed to provide a safer space for cyclists and can help you avoid direct interaction with vehicular traffic.
Use Hand Signals
Communicate your movements to drivers and other road users by using hand signals. Signal your turns and stops well in advance to alert others of your actions, which can prevent misunderstandings and accidents.
Items to Take Along
Carry essential items for your ride, including a repair kit, a pump, and a water bottle. Being prepared for minor repairs and staying hydrated will help ensure a safer and more enjoyable biking experience.

MavRIDE Buss Pass Program
The MavRIDE bus pass program gives eligible Mavericks the ability to use their MavCARD as a bus pass on any Omaha Metro or ORBT route at any time. Your MavCARD is automatically activated as your MavRIDE bus pass if you meet eligibility criteria.
Find more information about:
Scanning Your MavCard
All Omaha Metro and ORBT routes require MavRIDE participants scan their MavCard at the buses’ appropriate fare box in order to ride. This is to ensure that participants are using this service and improve accuracy in usage tracking. By requiring a MavCard scan, we can better maintain the program's sustainability, ensuring it remains available to those eligible at UNO.
MavRIDE may only be used by the UNO student, faculty, or staff member pictured on the MavCARD.
If you encounter any trouble scanning your MavCard when boarding, try swiping your card again. If the issue continues, please reach out to MavCard Services for assistance.

MOBY is Metro’s shared, ADA complementary paratransit service for individuals who cannot access their conventional, fixed-route bus network due to a disability or disabling health condition.
MOBY paratransit service rides are included in the MavRIDE Program. Your MavCARD will work the same way on a MOBY Bus as it does on a Omaha Metro Bus. A MavCARD holder will need to meet eligibility requirements and become certified for the service before using MOBY.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
As part of UNO's commitment to sustainability, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are available for the University of Nebraska at Omaha community and visitors, located across both campuses.
Each EV charging station has two ports, allowing two electric vehicles to charge at any given time.
All EV charging stations on campus provide Level 2 charging, delivering approximately 20 miles of range per hour.*
*Charging times depend on battery type, depletion level, and capacity. Electric vehicles typically take longer to charge than a hybrid vehicle, due to more battery capacity.

These stalls are for active charging only. Vehicles must be moved once fully charged. Please note that overstay fees can apply if the vehicle stays beyond achieving a full charge. This is done to encourage greater access to others who need to charge their vehicles.
Vehicles must be plugged in at all times and engaged in a charging session in order to park at an EV charging station. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the vehicle being issued a citation or possibly towed.
The use of regular wall outlets for the purpose of EV charging is prohibited.
Back to Electric (EV) Vehicle Charging StationsDownload the ChargePoint App
UNO offers electric vehicle charging on campus through a partnership with ChargePoint. Individuals must first register with ChargePoint in order to use the charging stations on campus.

How to Start a Charging Session
- Tap your ChargePoint card on the stations' smart card symbol
- Use the ChargePoint app to find your station and select “Start Charge”
Once authorized, the holster will unlock and you will then be able to plug the connector into your car.
When your charging session is complete, tap your ChargePoint card on the station reader or use the ChargePoint app. You can then unplug the connector from your car and put it back in the holster.
*Please note that ChargePoint requires a payment method to be entered during app setup.
