Accreditation and Certification

The Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (BSED) is currently accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Nebraska State Department of Education.

The program will seek Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation upon the next review cycle. To be formally accepted into the Educator Preparation program, candidates must pass the Praxis Core tests in reading (state benchmark of 156), writing (state benchmark of 163), and math (state benchmark of 150).

The BSED degree in Elementary Education allows UNO to recommend graduates for Nebraska licensure (B-3, PK – 3, K- 6). In addition, candidates must pass the Praxis II – Elementary Education: Curriculum and Instruction Assessment (5017) with a score of 153 or higher to meet state licensure requirements.
