🎯 Project Focus: AI is no longer limited to computer science—its applications span business, aviation, marketing, and beyond. The AI CodeLab System will create an interactive, hands-on AI coding platform to be used across multiple colleges at UNO. This initiative will equip students from a variety of disciplines with AI programming skills, ensuring they are prepared for the growing demand for AI expertise in their fields.

💡 Why It Matters

  • AI skills are in high demand across industries: From marketing and business analytics to aviation and mathematics, AI-driven decision-making is reshaping careers.
  • Most AI education is surface-level: Existing AI courses often lack hands-on programming components, leaving students unprepared for real-world applications.
  • Interdisciplinary AI education is essential: Many students outside of computer science want to learn AI programming but lack tailored, accessible training resources.

🚀 Key Initiatives

  • AI CodeLab System Development
    • Builds a prototype AI coding platform that can be integrated into multiple disciplines.
    • Features interactive coding modules, AI-guided learning tools, and real-world datasets.
  • Cross-College AI Course Integration
    • Pilots AI CodeLab in marketing, aviation, statistics, and computer science courses.
    • Provides custom AI coding exercises tailored to each field, from AI-driven market analysis to autonomous flight simulations.
  • K-12 AI Education Outreach
    • Expands AI CodeLab into teacher education programs to train future K-12 educators in AI instruction.
    • Develops lesson plans and activities to introduce AI concepts to younger students.

📈 Impact Goals

  • Equip students across disciplines with AI programming skills, ensuring career readiness in AI-driven fields.
  • Increase accessibility to AI education, allowing students outside of computer science to gain hands-on experience.
  • Strengthen UNO’s role as a leader in AI education, expanding interdisciplinary AI learning opportunities.
