Advancing AI Research, Education, and Workforce Development

🎯 Project Focus: Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming industries, education, and everyday life. AI-CCORE—the Artificial Intelligence Center for Collaborative Outreach, Research, and Education—will position UNO as a leader in AI innovation, education, and industry partnerships. The center will serve as a hub for AI workforce training, interdisciplinary research, and enterprise collaboration, equipping students, professionals, and businesses with the skills needed to navigate the evolving AI landscape​.

  • AI adoption is growing rapidly: Businesses and institutions need skilled AI professionals to integrate and manage AI technologies.
  • AI education must be accessible and interdisciplinary: AI-CCORE will support AI education across all disciplines, ensuring broad accessibility.
  • Nebraska must stay competitive in AI innovation: By developing custom AI solutions and industry partnerships, AI-CCORE will make Nebraska a leader in AI-driven economic development.


🚀 Key Initiatives

  • AI Workforce Development & Training
    • AI bootcamps, workshops, and Intern and Tutor Prep Academies to train students for AI-powered careers. AI-CCORE is launching its first bootcamp on March 22nd, 2025.
    • AI literacy programs and Masterclasses for executives and professionals across industries. AI-CCORE is launching its first Masterclass on April 18th 2025.
  • AI Research & Innovation
    • AI-CCORE will foster AI-driven research collaborations in software engineering, cybersecurity, healthcare, agriculture, engineering, and education.
    • AI-CCORE staff, UNO faculty and students will develop and deploy AI solutions advancing federal and state research and support businesses and public agencies.
  • Community Engagement & AI Accessibility
    • Interactive AI exhibits at PKI and the Kiewit Luminarium to educate the public about AI’s impact.
    • AI-powered student advising tools to improve academic success.

  • Expand AI education and workforce training by integrating AI into numerous fields and providing hands-on learning experiences.
  • Develop industry and community partnerships to make Nebraska a hub for AI research, education, and enterprise solutions.
