Landscape Services is responsible for landscape development and grounds maintenance on UNO’s Dodge, Scott, and Center campuses.
Our goal is to provide a safe and attractive campus. A staff of dedicated professionals ensures our green spaces and hard surfaces are appealing and usable in every season.
Litter and Waste Disposal
The landscape crew changes trash bags in trash receptacles and picks up litter on the exterior areas of campus.
Confidential Bin Requests
DataShield provides service of confidential, secure, routine document destruction (secure shredding) services for UNO. It is the responsibility of each individual department to coordinate directly with DataShield to perform the necessary handling of confidential shredding services. Each service will be tailored to fit the needs of the individual department and fully performed directly from DataShield.
DataShield will install a secure, locked cart for your office. Each cart has a useable capacity of approximately 200 lbs of paper. During each service, they will replace your full container with an empty container, and track the serial number of each container. The process ensures a complete chain of custody from pick-up to destruction.
How does my department obtain a “Confidential Bin?”
Departments need to fill out this request form to establish an account with DataShield.
DataShield will follow up via email with more specific information regarding service schedule, web portal access, and instructions. Once you have an account established you will schedule service through the web portal. Exterior Pest Management
The landscape crew provides exterior pest control and disease management in turf, trees, and shrubs. We do this during the growing season only if the problem becomes too difficult to manage using natural, environmental-friendly methods.
Interior pest control is overseen by Custodial Services.
Scheduled Grounds Maintenance
The landscaping crew cares for approximately 350 acres of turf and landscape planting beds on campus. We also plant, fertilize, aerate, and mow the grass during the spring, summer, and fall.
Each year, this crew grows, plants, and maintains approximately 20,000 annual plants and flowers, which contribute to an array of color and beauty on campus.
Snow and Ice Removal
During the winter months, the landscape crew is responsible for keeping approximately 25 miles of sidewalks on campus free from snow and ice. We also provide parking lot and campus roadway sweeping and inlet cleaning.
