Obama's visit was the first to UNO by any sitting president, and followed his final State of the Union speech the day prior. Learn more
UNO was the recipient of the Presidential Award for the Economic Opportunity category of the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
This award recognizes institutions with service programs that build economic independence, increase family stability, and create more sustainable and resilient communities. Institutions in this category are engaged in service that improves the financial well-being and security of economically disadvantaged individuals.
