Maverick Civic Action Council
Whether you're interested in community partnerships, civic leadership, service, voter engagement, or building a more connected campus, this council is a space to collaborate, share ideas, and turn them into action. Together, we'll shape initiatives that strengthen civic life at UNO and create lasting impact in our community.
About MCAC
The Maverick Civic Action Council (MCAC) brings together UNO students, staff, faculty, and community partners who are passionate about strengthening civic engagement and creating meaningful opportunities for Mavericks to make a difference.
Who Can Join?
Everyone is welcome, including:
- Students
- Staff
- Faculty
- Community partners
Why Join?
As a member of the MCAC, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Shape campus civic engagement initiatives and priorities
- Collaborate with partners across UNO and the Omaha community
- Support projects that create meaningful impact
- Connect with others who are passionate about service, leadership, and civic life
- Share your ideas, expertise, and lived experiences to help strengthen our campus and community
How It Works
The council convenes monthly during the academic year at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (CEC). Members are welcome to participate in meetings, projects, and initiatives based on their interests, expertise, and availability—there is no expectation that you participate in every project.
Whether you'd like to help plan events, strengthen community partnerships, support civic learning opportunities, or simply lend your voice to new ideas, there's a place for you on the council.
