The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) transforms and improves the quality of life locally, nationally, and globally.

Central to UNO’s mission and strategic plan is community engagement.

Showcasing Partnerships

The UNO Community Engagement Partnership Initiative (CEPI) is an online tool that collects and showcases community engagement projects and those community partners. The tool has a series of maps and reports with filters by focus area, organization type, legislative district, and more.

238 Service Learning Classes

Students who enroll in a UNO service learning class have a 10% higher student success (retention and graduation) rate.

The UNO Service Learning Academy (SLA) works to support UNO faculty members to develop service learning courses in collaboration with community organizations, governmental agencies, businesses, and P-12 faculty. Projects are implemented that serve the community and create valuable learning experiences for UNO students. Students’ learning goes beyond the classroom as they apply their knowledge to real-life situations and build workforce skills as community-engaged future professionals.

The UNO SLA's 2019-20 report indicated that 89% UNO students developed their public speaking skills, and 99% developed teamwork, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
