Updated Voluntary FTE Reduction Program Offers Greater Flexibility for Employees

The University of Nebraska’s Voluntary FTE Reduction Program has been revised and will take effect October 3, 2025. The program gives eligible full-time Office/Service and Managerial/Professional employees the option to voluntarily reduce their work hours and pay (to no less than 0.75 FTE) while continuing to receive full-time benefits.
The updated policy includes two (2) key enhancements:
- Flexibility: Employees may now request a voluntary FTE reduction more than once during their employment.
- Expanded Eligibility: All regular, full-time employees who have completed their probationary period are now eligible to participate.
These updates reflect the University’s commitment to supporting work-life balance and employee well-being across all career stages.
