Additional Information

Michael discovered his passion for civic engagement while an undergraduate student at Lebanon Valley College (LVC).  He completed over 100 hours of community service and participated in international service trips to Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.  Michael pursued two internship opportunities in Washington, D.C.  During fall semester 2016, he attended The Washington Center’s Academic Internship Program, serving as a Congressional Intern in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Returning to Washington, D.C. during the summer of 2017, Michael served as a Program Associate at the Osgood Center for International Studies.  He studied aboard in Europe during the summer of 2015 at Maastricht University’s Center for European Studies.  Michael graduated from LVC with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and minors in Politics and Spanish. His achievements included participating as a four-year member of the men’s NCAA Division III lacrosse team, a Multicultural Fellow, and being inducted into the Interfaith Honor Society.

Following graduation, Michael served for two years in the Dominican Republic with Outreach360, an organization dedicated to teaching English and Spanish to youth in rural communities. In March 2020, his service with Outreach360 ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During fall 2020, Michael joined the American Red Cross (ARC) as a Shelter Associate supporting those affected by natural disasters.  Since then, he has served on four national deployments dedicated to wildfire and hurricane relief.  He was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award in July 2021.  Currently he continues his ARC service with the Nebraska and Iowa Region Disaster Action Team (DAT).  As an ARC supervisor, he leads the response in support of those affected by single and multi-family fires.

For the past two years, Michael served as a Mentor Coordinator for the DREAM Program, an AmeriCorps State and National Program in Burlington, Vermont.  He led eight college teams from four colleges and universities to provide after school enrichment opportunities for youth from low-income communities.

Michael remains dedicated to serving others, exploring his new surroundings, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
