Additional Information

At the age of 16 Emily went abroad for the first time on a visit to south India with her parents. After two weeks working with a non-profit in Andhra Pradesh, she came home excited to see more of the world. This led to a high-school trip to Europe and volunteering trips to Mexico and Nicaragua as a young adult. Emily studied abroad for the first time as a UNO student, participating in a 10-day program to Moscow, Russia. It was during this time as a UNO student that Emily worked in the Education Abroad Office as a peer advisor. After graduating with a BA in History from Bellevue University, Emily returned to India to work as an English teacher in Kerala. Emily’s professional history has been diverse, and includes working at a homeless shelter, museum and zoo education departments, a study abroad provider, and as a university study abroad advisor. Returning to UNO in 2015 as the Education Abroad Advisor, she was able to gain in-depth knowledge of UNO's programs and processes. Now, as UNO’s Assistant Director of Global Learning, she supports students, staff and faculty in the development and participation in international education and domestic study away, seeks to grow UNO's programming to include and meet the needs of a diverse campus, and works collaboratively with units across UNO to make global learning an option for all students.
