Following a successful pilot during the Spring 2022 semester, the University of Nebraska System selected YuJa to replace VidGrid as our academic video content management system. YuJa allows faculty to record, edit, upload and share video content easily. Thank you to the UNO faculty members who participated in the pilot – faculty feedback was critical to this project.
We encourage you to start using YuJa today!

YuJa is now available in Canvas; look for the YuJa Video button in the navigation bar of your Canvas courses. YuJa can also be accessed directly through the UNO YuJa portal.
Transition to YuJa
UNO is transitioning to YuJa throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. Please note that VidGrid will be available through the end of the Spring 2023 semester as we work through the transition and migration process. Although VidGrid is available, we encourage you to begin using YuJa whenever you are comfortable. In order to best optimize the migration of data from VidGrid to YuJa, please minimize the use of VidGrid starting in December of this year. Now is a great time to look through, organize, and remove any unneeded videos from VidGrid; this will help clean-up your own collection of content and make the migration process go quicker.
Content Migration Process
Don't worry; we're going to do all the work! All videos in VidGrid will be moved to YuJa as part of an 10-week migration process, beginning on October 31st, 2022. During the first part of the migration process your videos will be copied from VidGrid to YuJa; during the second second part of the migration process VidGrid video links and embeds in your Canvas courses will be replaced with the new videos in YuJa. In addition to moving the videos, all existing closed captioning, folder structures, and video quizzes from VidGrid will be migrated as well. For video quizzes, the only work you'll need to do is re-add them to Canvas as assignments, once the migration process is completed.
A second "catch up" migration will begin at the end of the Spring 2023 semester for videos added to VidGrid on and after October 31st, 2022. This second migration will only consist of copying videos from VidGrid to YuJa and will NOT update links in Canvas. No videos will be removed from VidGrid until the end of our contract on June 30th, 2023.
Action Items
- Log into YuJa to claim your account by the end of business on October 30th, 2022;
- Review video content in your VidGrid account, deleting any content you do not want migrated to YuJa by the end of business on October 30th, 2022.
- Starting on October 31st, 2022, and moving forward, we suggest creating new video content in YuJa for the smoothest transition.
Workshops
Many individuals have already begun to use YuJa and have attended training sessions during August or September. To make sure all people have the opportunity to receive training on YuJa, Digital Learning will continue to offer a YuJa training session every week through the month of December.
