Be Bold. Be a Maverick.

Peter Stokes once commented that adult and contemporary learners in higher education are “hidden in plain sight” - because they’re everywhere, but seemingly unseen. In the Division of Continuing Studies (DCS), we see you. You’re smart, powerful, capable - and what we do in DCS is to not only help you realize that, but help the broader community realize that, as well. Supporting you is what drives us.

It’s not just about us touting our students’ achievements. Because we don’t need to do that - our students do that on their own, via their own merits, their own accomplishments. We’re the facilitators of that story, helping them bridge this chapter of their lives. The reality is that our students are already impacting the world, in large and small ways. We’re proud to call them members of our institution.

We do not believe there’s ONE path to education. We believe in YOUR path to education. Our Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) program combines the rich history of our institutional culture, the expertise of our world class faculty and your goals and dreams, to create a plan of study that’s uniquely yours.

A key component of our success is in honoring our students as individuals, and meeting them where they are. Because we see you and we respect you, we understand that welcoming you to our learning community enriches all of us at UNO. It makes us more committed as professionals, it enriches the dialog in our courses, and it helps to create a community that’s reflective of what’s happening in broader society. As a metropolitan, public institution, that is our mission.

On behalf of all of us in the Division of Continuing Studies, welcome.
