Ali Zolfaghari Sichani Memorial Scholarship

The Ali Zolfaghari Sichani Memorial Award in Biomechanics honors the legacy of Ali Zolfaghari Sichani, a dedicated doctoral student in the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Each year, a Biomechanics graduate student is selected to receive the Ali Zolfaghari Sichani Memorial Scholarship and receives $500 to help fund their education and research endeavors.

Eligibility:

  • Open to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
  • Must have demonstrated significant contributions to biomechanics research.
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Award Amount:

  • The recipient will receive a monetary award ($500) to support their academic and research endeavors.

Application Requirements: Applicants must submit the following:

  1. A personal statement (maximum 500 words) detailing their research contributions, academic achievements, and future goals in biomechanics.
  2. A current CV/resume.
  3. Unofficial Transcript
  4. (Optional) Any additional supporting materials that highlight research impact (e.g., publications, presentations, awards).

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be evaluated based on the following metrics:

  • Research excellence and impact in biomechanics.
  • Academic performance and progress in their graduate program.
  • Contribution to the biomechanics community (e.g., mentorship, outreach, collaboration).
  • Potential for future contributions to the field.

Selection Process:

  • A selection committee within the Department of Biomechanics will review applications.
  • The award recipient will be announced annually.

Submission Method: Please email the required documents to unobiomechanics@unomaha.edu with the title “Ali Z Award - student first and last name”. Example title: “Ali Z Award - Majid Jadidi”

About Ali Zolfaghari Sichani

Ali joined the PhD in Biomechanics & Kinesiology program in August 2023 under the supervision of Assistant Professor Majid Jadidi. He received his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ali’s passion for biomechanics, research excellence, and commitment to academic advancement left a lasting impact on the department. This award recognizes outstanding graduate students who exemplify excellence in biomechanics research, academic achievement, and professional development.
