Omaha is Home

As a citizen of our community, and as outlined in our mission, The College of Arts and Sciences feels compelled to collaborate with our neighbors to make Omaha an even better place to live. Whether we're helping young students develop a love for science, providing psychological services for those in need, or connecting diverse cultures within our community, the College of Arts and Sciences is committed to Omaha.

The College has a number of camps, programs and centers that offer our students, faculty, staff and Omaha neighbors a chance to work together, play together and foster a sense of place in our shared home.

Aim for the Stars - A hands-on, informal science and math summer camp, intended to ignite the inner scientist in its campers

C.A.P.O.W. (Chemistry & Physics on Wheels) - A mobile science show of pops, bangs and flashes that travels to local schools. The program includes exciting overviews of physics, chemistry, and/or energy resources

C.A.P.S. (Center of Applied Psychological Services) - High quality, research-based, legally defensible, and scientifically sound consulting services to local, public, and private organizations

Mallory Kountze Planetarium - An exciting place to go for star shows, lectures and possible rooftop observing. Located in Durham Science Center on UNO's campus

NE STEM 4U - A student-run organization at the University of Nebraska Omaha that is committed to bringing quality, after-school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities to disadvantaged elementary and middle school students within the Omaha Public Schools

OLLAS (Office of Latino/Latin American Studies) - Pronounced "oy-yas", this office is dedicated to the productive incorporation of the new and growing Latino population into the political, economic, and social life of the Great Plains

Prairie Preserves - Local preserves managed by the Department of Biology at UNO whose mission is to restore and preserve some of Eastern Nebraska's natural prairie and woodland heritage and serve as education and research sites for the University and the surrounding regional community

Schwalb Center - Works to create, coordinate, and promote an interdisciplinary program focusing on teaching and scholarship in Jewish and Israeli history, politics, culture and society
