Elmwood Park Lower Road to Close May 12
The city of Omaha will begin resurfacing the Elmwood Park lower road on Monday, May 12, at 8 a.m. Due to the narrow width, the road will be closed to all traffic. The intersection of University Drive South and University Drive East will remain open.
The project is expected to last four days. For more information, contact Campus Security at 554.2648. Check the Current Complete Closure Map for detailed location information.
Parking Update from Campus Security
Several parking changes will take place on campus due to renovation of the HPER building, construction of the new College of Business Administration building and the opening of Maverick Village.
Some changes will happen over the summer as these projects get underway.
With the opening of Maverick Village comes the addition of a second parking structure at the Dodge location. The new structure along University Drive South, west of Maverick Village, will be reserved parking.
Students living at University Village (UV) and Maverick Village (MV) and parking a vehicle on campus will be restricted to lots L and J. Lot L is currently used by UV residents. Lot J will be designated as the new University Drive South parking structure. There is enough capacity in lots L and J to allow all the residents of UV and MV to have a parking place. A permit will be required, as well as a surcharge, to park in lots J and L. An access card will be necessary to enter either lot.
But not all students who live at the Dodge location have a vehicle on campus. There will be additional spaces in lots J and L. Commuter students, faculty and staff may purchase a permit/access card on a first come, first serve basis. The two lots will not be over-sold. The permit for lots J and L will be valid only in lots J and L. The permits will also be honored in the appropriate lots at the Pacific and Center locations.
Additional changes for the fall include:
Updates will be posted throughout the summer on this web page. For more information contact Campus Security at 402.554.2648.

Utility project temporarily closes parking lots Q and O
On the Dodge Street location, parking lots Q and O will be partially blocked off for utility verification work this week (April 2008). The contractor will be working in this area and parking lot restrictions will continue through Saturday, April 19. For more information, contact Robert Fuder, construction engineer, at 554.2284. Check the Current Complete Closure Map for detailed location information.
Dodge location traffic delay notice
Commuters of the Dodge location should expect traffic delays this evening (Jan. 17), especially at the 67th and Dodge Street exit. Due to delivery problems for the Maverick Village, currently only one lane is accessible leaving campus at the 67th and Dodge Street exit. Campus Security suggests leaving campus through Elmwood Park or at the 60th and Dodge Street exit.
November 1 football game will cause parking changes on campus
The November 1, 2007 football game at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) against the University of South Dakota will cause some parking changes on campus. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and fans are encouraged to arrive as early as possible.
The parking change information:
Extra officers from UNO Campus Security and from the Omaha Police Department will help direct traffic and will be on hand both near the stadium and on the Pacific location campus. The UNO Athletic Department expects 7,000 to 9,000 fans at the game.
Concrete deliveries will prompt short traffic delays
Beginning the week of November 5, the Kiewit Building Group will begin to accept delivery of pre-cast concrete for the new parking garage under construction on the west side of campus. The daily deliveries will prompt short traffic delays as the trucks arrive on campus.
Approximately 12 flatbed truckloads of the pre-cast will be delivered every day to the UNO campus. Each delivery will create a traffic stoppage for several minutes near the William H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center (67th and Dodge Streets) and near the construction site. Trucks will be arriving on Dodge Street from the west and, in order to make the turn into the campus, each truck will use the northbound lanes of 67th Street, directly to the east of the Alumni Center. Construction workers with flags will be on hand to stop and direct traffic for each delivery. The trucks will proceed south on 67th Street and turn east onto College Plaza, where they will turn into the construction site near the Kiewit trailers.
"We're asking that motorists be patient with these traffic delays," said Audrey Buckley, project manager for the student housing and parking garage. More than 500 pre-cast pieces will be delivered for the garage over a three- month period. When completed in August 2008, the five-level parking garage will hold 892 vehicles.
Crossroads garage adds more than 300 additional spaces
Renovations to the top of the Crossroads parking garage have finished. With that accomplished, more than 300 additional parking spaces are now available to UNO students.
The Crossroads shuttle is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Shuttles arrive every 10 to 15 minutes and transport riders to and from high traffic points on campus.
Be sure to check the Current Complete Closure Map for up-to-date information.
Current parking changes for Aug. 27 forward
Parking update for the week of Aug. 20
Parking at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) during the 2007-08 academic year will take some extra thought and planning as the campus goes through a period of construction and development. Classes start at UNO on Aug. 27.
Ongoing construction of additional student housing, a parking garage and road work on the southwest corner of the Dodge location campus has meant 300 fewer student stalls being available when compared to a year ago. Off-site (and free) parking at Crossroads Mall provides an option for students, faculty and staff, said Paul Kosel, assistant manager for campus security.
"No one needs to buy a parking sticker to use the shuttle bus service from Crossroads," he said. "The buses come every 10 to 15 minutes and they drop people off at the high traffic points of campus. It’s an excellent way to approach parking this year."
The Crossroads shuttle is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. A second shuttle route runs from the Dodge location to Pacific location campus from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.
For people who want their vehicle on campus, arriving at UNO earlier than in years past and having patience is the best advice, Kosel said.
