How does Marq work?

Marq is a web-based design and brand templating program. MarComm has created a variety of UNO-branded design templates—posters, flyers, postcards, signs, and more—that serves as a design starting point for any college, department, or unit. With a Marq license, any end-user can open a template and create!

When logging in, I am being asked for my primary email address or account. What is that?

Each campus unit has a designated Marq account license that can be accessed through a general email address and password. You cannot log in to Marq with a personalized email address. Please contact your college communicator or department lead to request access to your unit’s shared account. If you’re unsure about who your Marq account lead is, please contact MarComm at marcomm@unomaha.edu.

Do I need to have a background in design to create something in Marq?

No. Marq is extremely easy to use and very intuitive—many have compared it to the ease of using PowerPoint. If you start with the templates, you can make attractive and effective marketing materials without any design training. Once you’re logged in, you can watch the tutorials or view the free video user courses in the help Center of Marq to get acquainted.

Will someone approve my work?

When you believe your file is ready, you will choose to send it for approval. Most users should choose to send the file to brandreview@unomaha.edu or share the document with your college communicator or department lead to review.

MarComm will review materials for the five Required Brand Elements to ensure that the integrity of UNO’s branding and identity has been maintained before approving the file. If the file requires adjustments, it will be returned to you with a note of explanation. When the appropriate adjustments have been made, the file will be approved. Please note that we will not proofread your files (although you should be following the UNO Writing Style Guide).

What if I want to print copies of something I design?

UNO encourages faculty, staff, and students to use internal campus suppliers whenever possible. When your design is finished, you can save your file as a pdf with crop marks and provide it to UNMC Printing Services at print4u@unmc.edu to be produced. UNMC Printing Services can assist in providing cost-effective solutions for producing UNO-branded promotional and communications materials and charge straight to your cost center number.

Where can I get training in how to use Marq?

To quickly familiarize yourself with the Marq website and menus, download the UNO Marq Quick Start Guide. For a little more in-depth training and specific questions, Marq offers a number of tutorials and free video user courses, as well as a robust Help Center.
