UNO's vision is to have sustainability an integral part of UNO's culture and identity. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators make decisions that are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and financially feasible.

Student Organizations

SustainUNO (SUNO)

Action-oriented student organization focused on improving sustainability practices on campus and educating their peers about sustainability problems and solutions.

Student Leadership

Student Workers within The Office of Sustainability

Student workers are at the heart of UNO's Office of Sustainability. Over the last couple of years, student workers have directly contributed to increasing the sustainability of our campus by managing and expanding our campus community garden to provide produce for our Maverick Food Pantry, developing and implementing our campus compost program, creating digital tools and resources related to a variety of sustainability topics available to the community, and managing our social media accounts.

Sustainability Internship Program

Are you interested in sustainability? Do you want or need an internship to graduate? UNO's Office of Sustainability works with students from multiple degree programs to develop exciting internship opportunities either directly with the office, or with a variety of community organizations.

Serve on Sustainability-Focused Working Groups

There are multiple campus working groups responsible for the development and implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at progressing UNO towards achieving our Sustainability Master Plan goals. These working groups are comprised of students, staff, faculty, and Omaha community partners.

To learn more about these student leadership opportunities, contact the Office of Sustainability by emailing sustainability@unomaha.edu
