About Casey

Casey Wells joined the University of Nebraska Omaha and the Office of Spirit, Tradition, and Signature Events as an Event Coordinator in 2024. Wells oversees several student engagement initiatives, including Discover with Durango, the Durango Discount Program, Family Programs, and office marketing and management efforts. Additionally, Wells assists with large-scale campus events that foster student involvement, school spirit, and community connection.

Prior to joining the professional staff, Wells served as a student worker in the Office of Spirit, Tradition, and Signature Events while completing a degree at UNO. Before beginning a career in higher education, Wells gained experience in education and childcare, developing a passion for creating meaningful experiences and supportive environments for students and families.

Throughout a career focused on student engagement and program development, Wells has worked to enhance campus traditions, strengthen student connections, and increase awareness of university resources and opportunities. Notable accomplishments include rebuilding the Durango Discount Program and creating Hot Mav Summer, an initiative designed to keep students connected and engaged with UNO during the summer months.

In February 2026, Wells received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents Kudos Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the university community. Wells also serves as a representative on the UNO Staff Advisory Council, advocating for staff engagement and collaboration across campus.

Outside of work, Wells enjoys paddleboarding, attending concerts, traveling, and following sports.
