The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is nationally recognized for its commitment to community engagement and celebrates the dedication and spirit of service demonstrated by students who have participated in the AmeriCorps program.

In recognition of the commitment shown by AmeriCorps volunteers, UNO is proud to offer students a scholarship opportunity that can be used in conjunction with the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Spring 2023 Graduate AmeriCorps Scholarship Recipients

  • Matthew Brethen, Raleigh, North Carolina (Master of Public Administration)

  • Brittany Corby, Omaha, Nebraska (Master of Science in Political Science and Intelligence and National Security Certificate)

In addition to the general benefits offered to all AmeriCorps volunteers, UNO offers up to ten $1,500 graduate scholarships annually to AmeriCorps alumni as a matching benefit when utilizing their Segal AmeriCorps Education award. Along with UNO scholarships, all AmeriCorps students will receive in-state tuition. These are one-time awards for graduate study.

Graduate students who want to be considered must meet all the eligibility requirements. Graduate students must be admitted to a graduate degree or graduate certificate program at UNO for Spring of 2023, self-identify in the application process as an AmeriCorps Alumni, upload evidence of AmeriCorps service, provide a brief essay discussing their AmeriCorps experience and how it fits into their professional objectives, and be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credit hours. Anyone with questions about the scholarship, please contact the Office of Graduate Studies.
