Industrial Organization Student Biographies and Resumes

Emily Adams
Emily Adams

Emily is in her second year of the industrial/organizational psychology Ph.D. track. She earned a master's degree in experimental psychology at Western Illinois University in 2014. Since then, she has worked as an institutional research analyst at a community college and as a data analyst for a juvenile justice collective impact organization. She is interested in health and well-being, and how organizations contribute to both through mission-driven activities and in the lives of their employees. She enjoys working in new contexts where she can apply the principles of research to solve problems. View Emily's resume.

Laura Brooks
Laura Brooks
Laura is a second year in the MA/PhD Industrial/Organization Psychology Program. Her primary research focus is Diversity Training Effectiveness, accounting for individual employee differences, such as cynicism and prejudice. She is in the process of completing my Master's thesis, which includes an experimental design examining methods for obtaining training acceptance and effectiveness.

Within the Applied I/O field, Laura has experience in Behavioral Profiling utilizing structured interviews. These interviews were used for both predictive selection decisions as well as developmental opportunities. She is currently working in the compensation sector of the field, assisting in the overhaul of the compensation structure of a major hospital. This overhaul includes restructuring and redesign of job descriptions.

Nicole Landowski
Nicole Landowski
Nicole is a PhD industrial/organizational psychology graduate student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to attending UNO, Nicole earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Creighton University and a Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from St. Cloud State University. Her previous experience includes working with CPP Inc.’s research team where she assisted in major assessment revisions and product developments as well as contributing to research on the psychometrics and validation of CPP products. In addition, she has experience in job analysis for small businesses, designing group-level feedback reports, and developing employee engagement and 360 feedback assessments. She has conducted program evaluation work through the Center of Applied Psychology (CAPS). She is also an MBTI Certified Practitioner. View Nicole's resume.
Isaac Lindquist
Isaac Lindquist
Isaac is a M.A./Ph.D. industrial/organizational psychology student originally from Milbank, SD. Prior to enrolling UNO, Isaac obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND majoring in psychology and business administration. With work experience in a bevy of industries including retail, service, insurance, and skilled labor, Isaac possesses a level of knowledge about numerous types of organizations from the inside. At UNO, he has assisted in a number of applied projects and his research interests include workplace meetings, meaningful work, and work team composition.View Isaac's resume.
Nadine Maliakkal
Nadine Maliakkal
Originally from Rochester, New York, Nadine earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. After earning her B.A., Nadine worked full-time as a research assistant at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI) at Yale University for two years. While pursuing an M.A./Ph.D at UNO's Industrial/Organizational Psychology program, Nadine has worked for The Creelgroup and the Center for Applied Psychological Services, both human resource external consulting groups. Nadine has also worked on a variety of research projects focused on creativity, leadership, emotions, and inclusion/diversity. View Nadine's resume.
Eric Scheller
Eric Scheller
Eric Scheller is an MA/PhD industrial/organizational psychology graduate student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Prior to attending UNO, Eric earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from South Dakota State University. Previous experience includes developing and conducting interviews and facilitating collaborative sessions to develop a program evaluation plan as a consultant for the Center for Applied Psychological Services at UNO, developing and validating selection assessment tools for Oriental Trading Company, and conducting a virtual, team-based leadership development program with the Rural Futures Institute. Eric’s research interests include pay transparency, regulatory focus, training and development, organizational justice, motivation, and leadership. View Eric's resume.
Philip Simmons
Philip Simmons
Originally from Connecticut, Philip earned his BA in Psychology from Rowan University in New Jersey. In 2014 he moved to Omaha, Nebraska to complete the Social/Personality Psychology MA and the I/O Psychology PhD programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha under the direction of Dr. Carey Ryan. His research has focused on diversity training and whether organizational factors and employee attitudes affect training effectiveness. As a practitioner, Philip has worked with several Fortune 500 companies such as Tesla, Caterpillar, and Intuitive Surgical to improve organizational performance. On the weekends you’re likely to find Philip and his wife enjoying the outdoors.
Sheridan Trent
Sheridan Trent
Sheridan Trent is a doctoral student in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational psychology. As a graduate student, over the past four years, she has worked with dozens of nonprofit clients through UNO’s Volunteer Program Assessment group, where she served as the Assistant Director of Operations for three years, and the Assistant Director of Research for one year. Her work involved both providing outreach, survey administration, reporting, and consultation meetings for nonprofit clients, as well as mentoring and conducting development activities with other student consultants. She has also served as a member of the Community Engagement Measurement and Assessment Committee at UNO since the spring of 2017. She currently volunteers on the Advisory Council of the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging’s Senior Companion Program to provide citizen input and assist the staff with special projects as needed. Her research interests include nonprofit organizational effectiveness, incivility in the workplace, volunteer-related issues, and work-life conflict.
