  • The Fulbright Scholar Program offers faculty members from U.S. institutions opportunities to internationalize their research and/or teaching experience. Fulbright supports research, teaching, and administrative possibilities, ranging in duration from three weeks to a year, in over 135 countries around the world. UNO supports faculty members applying for such opportunities, often in coordination with Faculty Development Fellowships (FDF [sabbaticals]). For additional information on FDF eligibility and the application process, faculty members should contact their college dean’s office or Candice Batton, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

To support participation in the Fulbright program, Academic Affairs will provide up to $5,000 in support for travel abroad and related expenses for UNO faculty who are Fulbright recipients. Fulbright recipients should send a request that includes the itemized list of expenses (i.e., item and actual or anticipated cost) to Candice Batton in Academic Affairs.

Please note – each Fulbright recipient is asked to submit a single request that includes all anticipated expenses totaling up to $5,000; the request should be submitted approximately 30-60 days before travel. It may be possible for travel to be covered directly, if approved in advance. Unfortunately, the university is not currently in a position to provide salary support, but hopefully with your help, we can work to align Fulbright opportunities with FDFs.
