A culture of inclusive excellence.

The Office of Academic Affairs is committed to fostering a culture of inclusive excellence at UNO.  We value faculty diversity in its myriad forms and strive for an equitable and inclusive campus climate where all faculty feel empowered to do their best work and fully engage in the life of the university.

Intentionality and accountability are central tenets of our work. Our efforts are guided by a campuswide faculty committee that plays a key role in establishing priorities and action plans related to faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Initiatives are aligned with the university’s metropolitan mission and include a focus on faculty searches and recruitment, mentoring and peer networks, and professional development for faculty and academic leaders.

We benchmark and assess progress using a data-informed approach.

Leadership Faculty Fellows

The Leadership Faculty Fellow program is geared toward diversifying academic leadership for the campus. Faculty fellows work collaboratively with academic leadership in Academic Affairs and across the colleges to develop or build capacity in an area of need.

In addition to taking the lead on a particular project or initiative, Faculty Fellows also learn about more general administrative tasks and priorities associated with supporting the academic leadership of the campus.

Faculty Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee

Comprised of faculty representatives from all across the campus, this highly engaged group of nearly 20 faculty drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at UNO.
