Reverse Transfer allows students who have completed credits for an associate degree to receive that degree even if they have transferred to a four-year college or university.
How does the Reverse Transfer Program work?
Students who have completed at least 15 or more transferrable semester credits or 22.5 or more quarter credits at a community or tribal college in Nebraska and transferred to the University of Nebraska Omaha can transfer credit back to the two-year college to earn an associate degree.
Step 1: Students need to complete the Reverse Transfer form through their MavLINK dashboard to participate in the program and select the previous community or tribal college they attended.
The University of Nebraska Omaha will send the participating students’ information (name, address, phone, and email) to the community or tribal college selected by the student on the Reverse Transfer form.
Step 2: Students will need to complete a UNO transcript request in Mavlink (Academics > Request Official Transcript) to have their transcript sent to their former community or tribal college for evaluation. Students will receive an email after completing the Reverse Transfer form with the information on where to send their transcript.
The community or tribal college will evaluate the students’ transcripts. The former community or tribal college will notify the student if they have earned an associate degree. In the event that the student is missing requirements after evaluation, the community or tribal college will assist the student in finding appropriate university level coursework to complete the requirements.

What are the benefits?

Will earning an associates degree impact my eligibility for financial aid, scholarships, and/or military benefits?
Earning an Associate’s degree will not impact your eligibility for state or federal financial aid or military education benefits while you're pursuing a bachelor's degree. If you are receiving private scholarship money, please check with the awarding organization to ensure that earning an associate’s degree will not render you ineligible for the scholarship.
Which associate degree will I be awarded?
The associate degree you were working on while enrolled at the 2-year institution is generally the degree you are awarded. To be certain, check with the student enrollment services department or your academic advisor at your 2-year institution.
