Jerry Deichert presenting population trend information at the 2015 Data Users Conference.

Omaha – Want to learn more about data visualization? Want to understand an area’s workforce characteristics? Want a mid-decade look at how Nebraska’s population has changed since the 2010 Census?

If so, then the Nebraska Data Users Conference on Aug. 17, 2016, is the place to be.

Highlights of this year’s program include:

  • A mid-decade look at how the population has changed, with comparisons to other decades.
  • Two sessions on data visualization and display.
  • An overview and demonstration of Local Employment Dynamics.
  • Hands-on computer trainings on American FactFinder and LED online tools.
  • Three Census Bureau subject matter experts from DC and Denver.

The conference will also feature:

  • All the latest data and products from the Census Bureau.
  • The latest state and local population trends.
  • How to work with key socio-economic data from the American Community Survey.
  • Utilizing major data sources on the web, including BEA and BLS data.
  • A panel discussion on best practices for using data.
  • Networking opportunities and facilitated lunchtime discussions.

Conference presenters are experts from a variety of organizations to assure the best and most up-to-date information from a wide perspective, including the U.S. Census Bureau, Rural Futures Institute, CityMatCH, Empowerment Network and Nebraska Department of Labor. CPAR partners with the Nebraska Chapter of the American Planning Association to provide Certification Maintenance credit for its members.

The hands-on computer trainings have limited seats available and fill fast, so register early for the best selection.

The conference will be held Aug. 17, 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. on the UNO Dodge Campus. The cost is $75 ($90 after Aug. 10). To view the entire schedule and register please visit the conference website.

The 27th Annual Nebraska Data Users Conference is offered by the UNO Center for Public Affairs Research, designated as the official Nebraska State Data Center by the U.S. Census Bureau. The State Data Center program was created in 1978 as a cooperative program between the U.S. Census Bureau and individual states to make data available locally to the public through a network of state agencies, universities, libraries, and regional and local governments. The Nebraska Data Users Conference is one of the longest running among all states.
